Step into The Dublin Castle and you're walking through music history. This gloriously unglamorous boozer has witnessed more breakthrough moments than any other venue in London. From Madness rehearsing upstairs to Amy Winehouse's early gigs, the walls are soaked in sweat, spilled lager, and pure musical magic.
What to Expect
The upstairs venue holds maybe 100 people on a good night, which means you're practically sharing the microphone with whoever's performing. The sound system has seen better decades, the lighting rig consists of a few colored bulbs, and the 'backstage' area is a cupboard. It's absolutely perfect.
When to Visit
Check their gig listings religiously because you never know when the next big thing will grace their tiny stage. Weeknight shows often feature the most exciting new acts. Get there early because when word spreads about a good band, this place fills faster than you can say 'pint of Stella.'

Bring cash, embrace the chaos, and prepare to discover your new favorite band. The bar downstairs serves decent pub grub if you need sustenance between sets. This isn't about comfort or Instagram moments, it's about raw, unfiltered music in its purest form.
